VESC Floaty: live board data on your Garmin watch
Markus is building a dedicated app for Garmin watches: VESC Floaty connects to the VESC Express in the board via Bluetooth and shows the key values right on your wrist – your phone stays in your pocket.
Swipe to switch between six screens:
- Live: speed, voltage, duty, motor and controller temperature, plus battery percentage and motor and battery current
- GPS map with the route you rode, ride time and altitude
- Trip stats: distance, ride time, top and average speed, watt-hours used and climbing
- Speed and altitude over time
- Duty and motor current over time, with a warning line at 80 % duty
- Motor and controller temperature over time, with warning lines
The app also finds the VESC Express when the controller sits behind it on the CAN bus; the CAN ID can be set in the app settings. It is developed and tested on the Garmin Vivoactive 5. VESC Floaty is not publicly available yet – as soon as it is, you will read it here. You ride a board with a VESC Express, wear a Garmin watch and have wishes? Write to us.

Lights on!
Three boards, three colours: LED lighting doesn't just make you visible at dusk, it simply looks great too.

Summer in the mountains
This summer the board spent a lot of time in the mountains: in front of the Großglockner, on a bridge over a gorge and on gravel paths with an Alpine view.

From the workshop: VESC builds
Not every board comes ready out of the box. A few impressions of this summer’s VESC builds: purple footpads, grip tape and silver rails. Building your own? Add your board under Boards and share your config files with the community.
